Double A Solutions
Real-time solutions for business
By
Barbara L. Roose |

"Typically,
off-the-shelf application will only address 75 to
80% of what the customer wants the software application
to do. … Whatever the information you need to
capture, we can build it to 100% of what you need…”
Double
A Solutions markets customized web-based solutions
to small business. These solutions make it possible
for sole proprietors and small businesses to manage
their data more efficiently.
Giving small business the opportunity to play a level
field with big business is what Toledo-based Double
A Solutions aims to do each day. President Archie
Heinl began the company in 2003 after working for
several area companies. Vice President Paul Jacoby
works with Archie as Double A Solutions’ sales
manager, bringing with him 25 years of sales and management
experience.
Double A Solutions builds customized web-based solutions
for small business. Those solutions make it possible
for sole proprietors and small businesses to manage
their data more efficiently. Those solutions also
free business owners to get back to the reason and
the products that inspired them to go into business
so they don’t have to fuss with time-consuming
data management.
A Toledo native, Archie graduated from St. Francis
De Sales High School and later received his undergraduate
and master’s degrees from the University of
Toledo. While in college, Archie played on UT’s
baseball team. Back then, Archie wasn’t sure
what he wanted to do in life, but always figured on
some type of business career … just not in accounting.
Archie didn’t really like accounting.
Paul is also a Toledo native and from a large family
of nine children. Originally, his family resided in
Toledo’s Old West End, but the Jacoby family
moved to Sylvania Township during Paul’s youth.
Paul’s father encouraged his son to always work
hard, and young Paul listened. “I think my first
job was picking up sticks in neighbors’ yards
for $1.50 an hour. I was 9 at the time. The first
day, I had three friends helping me, but on day two,
I had no friends helping me. I had to finish the job
myself.” In 1978, Paul graduated from St. John’s
High School; later, he earned a general business degree
from Bowling Green State University. Paul owned his
own business for a period of time before entering
real estate and, later, sales management.
After finishing college, Archie went right to work
for Owens-Illinois. His next position at a software
company called Intellidata Technologies, however,
helped Archie connect to where he wanted his career
to go. “It was a software company, which was
really neat because I was part of building the product
rather than just fulfilling the service. I really
liked that concept and worked there for seven years.”
In time, Archie’s entrepreneurial spirit began
to bud, and he started working on a little side project
that would grow into “Inertia,” now one
of Double A Solutions’ signature products. Inertia
is an insurance application designed to assist trucking
companies with better management of their truck owners.
Archie and Paul believe that one of the factors that
drain business owners is outdated and mishandled data.
“Business owners have been managing information
by spreadsheet and e-mails, but we can build an on-line
website that allows them to do what they do best instead
of trying to track down information. Everyone within
the organization can use the data and make decisions
based off the data, which improves productivity. Once
we show them what they can do, it’s great. But
it is tough for them to realize the potential right
at the beginning.”
Although businesses owners believe they are saving
money by purchasing off-the-shelf software programs,
Archie believes that they are actually wasting money
on the portions of the software that are never going
to be used. “Typically, off-the-shelf application
will only address 75 to 80% of what the customer wants
the software application to do. …Whatever the
information you need to capture, we can build it to
100% of what you need. Data entry is a one-time event
and can be accessed from any place and then utilized
whenever necessary.”
One of their customers was always hiring temporary
employees to input data on a regular basis. The time
and energy it took to hire temporary employees, however,
was overwhelming the customer, who turned to Double
A Solutions for help. Paul talked with the business
owner about how a customized system would eliminate
the need to hire additional personnel and, ultimately,
lower overhead. This application also increased productivity
because the information would be entered once and
permanently accessible to everyone in the company
who needed to use that information. As Paul says,
“It not only changed his business … it
changed his life.”
One of Double A Solutions’ key products came
about because Archie was frustrated with how they
were keeping track of their sales leads. Rather than
try to keep track of sales leads through e-mail and
spreadsheets, Double A Solutions offers 360º
Lead Manager. This application offers a single access
point for businesses to access their customers. Rather
than needing to hire an IT professional and install
expensive software, 360º Lead Manager requires
only an Internet connection. Customers can access
their information from anywhere in the country, and
bi-coastal businesses can receive real-time leads
and updates.
Archie and Paul understand that what business owners
want most is to provide the service they are passionate
about, rather than lose valuable time keeping track
of information. They believe that Double A Solutions
has the ability not only to save small business owner’s
time but also that their web-based solutions can change
a small business owner’s life.
